Reading Time: 2 minutes

Well, the trailers for Overkill’s new Walking Dead game continue to look great. Following the first one in December last year, Overkill today released a new way–and it is similarly striking.

Part of the appeal with this trailer is not knowing what’s going to happen, so we won’t spoil all the action for you. It focuses on the character Maya, who is the second announced playable character, following Aiden. She is a doctor, so she’ll be a healer in the game, while Aiden is a brawler-type character. There are going to be four playable characters in all. Take a look at the trailer below, but maybe don’t be eating lunch or dinner while you do so.

This trailer premiered today during the newest episode of Microsoft’s Inside Xbox series. This included an interview with Overkill executive producer Saul Gascon about the game where he discusses the Washington, DC-set project and what it aims to be. You can watch the segment starting at 1 hour 39 minutes in the video below. Gascon added that he knows people want to see actual gameplay footage and not just cinematic trailers; real gameplay footage will come in due time, Gascon said.

Overkill’s The Walking Dead is being developed alongside The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who says he was certain from the first day he saw the project that it was the „co-op action game fans have been waiting for.“ It is also the result of a new „long-term“ partnership between Starbreeze and Kirkman’s Skybound Interactive company. This partnership will extend „into the next decade“ and marks a new era for Starbreeze, the company said.

505 Games, which is publishing Overkill’s new Walking Dead shooter, has high hopes for it as well. Raphael Galante, the CEO of 505’s parent company Digital Bros, previously said that it could duplicate or surpass the success of Payday 2. That game has sold more than 9 million copies, performing so well that it single-handedly pulled Starbreeze out of a 15-year loss in six months.

It’s been a long time coming for Overkill’s new Walking Dead game. Announced in 2014, the game was at one point scheduled to come out in 2016, before being delayed to 2017, and then again to 2018.
